LCredit is reputed as one of the many loan apps in Nigeria that invade users’ data privacy and harass them and their contact list.
Thank God for the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) that has clamped down on these numerous fake loan apps in Nigeria that send shame and defamatory messages to their customers and their contact lists.
Gradually the digital loan horizon is shaping out and become more sanitized. However there are still many bad eggs like LCredit that is still terrorising customers and this is still worrisome and calls for urgent attention from government financial authorities and consumer protection agencies such as the (Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) respectively.
For many who have been into the instant loan business for quite some time now, it is easy to tell that there was once a lending app called LCredit on the Google Play Store known for its notorious activities such as sending defamatory messages to people’s contacts barely days after taking a loan.
Fortunately, LCredit an illegal loan app was taken down from Google Play Store many months ago, by Play Protect, an Android security system that scans apps hosted on Play Store for malware and other malicious virus and fraudulent apps and protects users from privacy infringement and invasion. LCredit is fond of violating the policy rules of Google and breaching its customers’ data privacy by exposing them to the public and threatening them.
How I got threatened by LCredit – Ibadan Loan App Customer Cries Out
A lady Funmilayo Aborishade (not real names) sent a pathetic report and complaint about LCredit to QUICK LOAN ARENA this morning where she accused the digital loan company of using threat to collect twice the money she borrowed from the platform.
Funmilayo lamented that she borrowed N15,000 from LCredit and before the due date paid back to avoid any trouble. However the very “trouble” she was avoiding became her nightmare as the loan app started harassing her continuously to pay her money even after she had paid. She told she sent her evidence of payment to the app but she was threatened with defamation and told all her photos and contacts will be listed and accused on social media if she doesn’t go and pay (pay again).
Unfortunately she had to pay the money again to avoid harassment and shaming. Now she is reaching out to Nigerians and to the necessary authorities to help her call out LCredit for justice to be done.
Read her story below:
Good day Sir/Madam.
Please I need your some helps on this matter. Sometimes ago, I took small amount loan from LCredit loan app. A few weeks later, I had to repay early before due date in the night to avoid harassment. I have always heard about how loan apps defames and threatens customers and I wanted to avoid being a victim of such harassment.
So before they ask me for the repayment due, I quickly forwaded the money to the allocated bank account. so after I was done with repayment, few days later, they messaged about a date due of the repayment again. I was like extremely surprised and taken aback.
I thought I was done with my repayment and thaty should end the case, but unfortunately it didn’t, I contacted them, sending them a screenshot of payment on WhatsApp but they said they hasn’t received it yet. I waited for a few days but they kept calling me, I started complaining to them and exchanging messages with them on WhatsApp, but they insisted they didn’t see my money I repaid.
At this point I ignored them because I was tired and done with them. Few days later, I got message of threats from the loan app, saying that they are about to post my photos on social media. This made me to be very scared. I again appealed to them that i have already paid the money to them because I couldn’t repay twice but they kept saying they didn’t see money.
To be honest, I had already been debited the money by my bank and had the debit alert. I don’t know why they didn’t see my money. I kept getting threatened by them, I got so very depressed that I had to repay twice out of fear.
I am writing this to call out LCredit and to warn the public to be wary of these different digital loan apps and be careful of borrowing money from them. Many of then are merely loan sharks and are out there to fraud Nigerians.
Thank you for reading.
Yours,
Funmilayo Aborishade
