Investigations by QUICK LOAN ARENA reveal that another rogue loan app in Nigeria, GotCash has been banned by Google and taken down from its Play Store for violating its policy on customers’ data privacy which is characterised by sending defamatory and blackmailing messages to its customers and their contact list.

Google bans rogue app, GotCash from Play Store over data breach

In the last 48 hours, the internet giant had removed BorrowNow and LendCash loan apps over the same reason: violating customers’ data privacy and sending defamatory and threatening messages to its customers, their families and contact list. Earlier today QUICK LOAN ARENA also exclusively reported that PalmCash and GotoCash, both rogue loan apps operating in Nigeria were also banned from Google Play Store for similar violations.

Google started the crackdown on violating loan apps few weeks back following  series of investigative reports by QUICK LOAN ARENA blacklisting several digital lending apps in Nigeria for breaching the data privacy of their customers and sending shame and defamatory messages to their families and contact list.

We had published an article early in November, 2021 where we revealed how PalmCash and Gotocash and other rogue loan apps are defaming Nigerian consumers and why Google should blacklist them and take them down from its Play Store.

QUICK LOAN ARENA is the first and only platform that evaluates and reviews the activities of loan apps and digital lending agencies and companies in Nigeria.

This ongoing crackdown on these rogue loan apps in Nigeria by Google is a welcome development and we believe it’s  the only way to enforcing the rules on the remaining ones and by implication sanitizing the quick loan industry and digital lending platforms in the country.

QUICK LOAN ARENA has been at the forefront of a campaign to get rid of rogue and fradulent loan apps that have been defaming and maligning Nigerian consumers. Many of these apps are woned and managed from China or Hong Kong. Some managed in Nigeria are faceless, without any office or customer service telephone number. Those we have gotten evidence of their infringement and violating the data right of Nigerians we have blacklisted them and advised customers across the nation to boycott their service. A few of them are listed below.
